Position: Assistant Olympic Weightlifting Coach (Part-Time)

Austin Barbell, the Austin's premier Olympic Weightlifting Club, is on the lookout for a dedicated, energetic Assistant Coach to join our powerhouse coaching team. Position Details:

  • Initial commitment: 4-8 hours per week, with potential to scale up hours and compensation for exceptional performers.

  • Locations: Choose your home base—South Austin or North Austin.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and assist in coaching small group training sessions (solo or as a dynamic duo).

  • Foster meaningful athlete interactions, tracking accountability, goals, and progress.

  • Attend weekly team meetings to strategize and align coaching approaches.

  • Support prospect management and smoothly onboard new members.

  • Engage in light sales activities and membership management tasks.

  • Maintain gym cleanliness and ensure all equipment stays competition-ready.

What We Require:

  • Authorized work visa or US Citizenship.

  • Enthusiasm, positivity, and genuine care for athlete development.

  • Proven capability in leading both individual and group training sessions.

  • USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach (Level 1 minimum), SafeSport Certified, USAW Background Checked, and CPR/AED Certified.

  • Ability to independently manage athletes of varying skill levels.

  • Tech-savvy, proficient with digital tools like iPads, gym software, Google Sheets, etc.

  • Austin local, with reliable transportation between our North and South locations.

  • Current USA Weightlifting membership in good standing.

Bonus Points For:

  • Olympic Weightlifting experience as an athlete, coach, or both.

  • Coaching group sessions or personal training.

  • Basic nutritional knowledge and familiarity with healthy lifestyle practices.

  • Expertise in exercise modification for individual athlete needs.

  • Competition background in Olympic Weightlifting.

  • Experience designing weightlifting training programs.

  • Sales and follow-up communication experience.

  • Availability for early morning sessions.
